About the George Custer Framed Set Non Firing Replica Gun

Part of the Historic Replica Guns catalog, the George Custer Framed Set Non Firing Replica Gun is a reproduction built for display, costume and film work rather than for firing. It is cast, fitted and finished by hand, the moving parts operate like the original, and the barrel is solid, so no round can be chambered at any point.

The right display does two jobs: it shows the replica and it keeps hands off it. A framed set with a felt backing does both, and the glass keeps dust and fingerprints away from a nickel finish that marks easily. For a single gun, a presentation box with a cut-out is the classic choice and it stacks on a shelf without taking wall space.

Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the standard finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.

General Custer carried a pistol similar to this deluxe 1860 Civil War Army revolver. This replica pistol measures 14" in length and weighs a hefty 2 lbs. 8 oz. The loading lever, hammer, trigger and cylinder action work like the rare and expensive original. The pistol is decorated with real wood grips, a deluxe blued barrel and simulated brass frame. Mounted with the pistol are a replica engraving of the General on horseback, brass 7th Cavalry insignia and a brass identification plaque.

Frame Size: 18" x 7"
