Hangers

Sword Hangers and Belt Frogs

A hanger is the leather or webbing loop that holds a sword scabbard to a belt, and it is the piece that decides whether a sword hangs correctly. The hangers here cover the military patterns and the western styles, with brass or steel fittings and adjustable straps for blade length.

The three point hanger keeps the scabbard vertical and is the correct pattern for a dress sword; the two point hanger lets the sword swing and belongs on a cavalry sabre. Buy the hanger with the sword rather than after: the fittings on a scabbard are specific to the model, and a generic frog will sit at the wrong angle and wear the leather.

Fitting a Holster to a Replica

A holster is cut for a frame, not for a brand. The 1911 pattern fits the Denix and Kimar 1911 replicas, the Peacemaker fits single action holsters with a 4.75 or 5.5 inch barrel, and a Schofield will not sit correctly in a Colt cut because the frame and latch are different. Measure the barrel length on the model page before ordering, and match it exactly.

Leather needs a break-in period even for a replica. Fit the gun dry, leave it in the holster overnight, then draw it a dozen times. Do not oil the inside of a new holster to speed this up: oil softens the leather and the holster will lose the shape that holds the gun.

Common questions

Will my replica fit this holster?
Check the frame type and barrel length on the model page. A holster cut for a 4.75 inch single action will not fit a 7.5 inch model, and a Schofield will not fit a Colt cut.

Is the leather real?
Yes, the holsters and belts are real leather. Expect a break-in period and avoid oiling the inside, which softens the shape.

Do you sell the belt with the holster?
They are listed separately so the rig can be built to length, and the rig sets in this section pair a belt with one or two matched holsters.
