Part of the Historic Replica Guns catalog, the 1851 Colt Navy Silver Finish is a reproduction built for display, costume and film work rather than for firing. It is cast, fitted and finished by hand, the moving parts operate like the original, and the barrel is solid, so no round can be chambered at any point.
Revolvers are the most collected category in this catalog, and the differences between models matter more than the pictures show. Barrel length changes the balance in the hand: a 4.75 inch Peacemaker points quickly and photographs well on a bookshelf, while a 7.5 inch cavalry length looks correct in a display case but feels muzzle heavy. Finish is the second decision, because antique grey hides handling marks while polished nickel shows every fingerprint.
Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the Silver finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.

This non-firing replica revolver is modeled after the 1851 Colt Navy. This gun is similar to the guns that Rooster Cogburn carried in the 2010 version of True Grit. (His two Navy sixes). However, his guns had the blued finish, whereas this replica has the silver engraved finish.
For a gun that looks similar in finish to Rooster Cogburn's Navy Sixes, check out the Griswold & Gunnison. The major difference is that the barrel is cylindrical, rather than octagonal.
This famous civil war revolver was used extensively throughout the War Between the States by both Union and Confederate troops. It's 7.5" octagonal barrel and strong frame made for a reliable, handsome sidearm. The barrel and frame of this replica gun feature elegant scroll engraving while the cylinder is engraved with tall sailing ships. This model gun features realistic looking replica ivory grips.
