About the 1873 Lever Action Repeating Rifle Engraved Brass Finish Non Firing Replica Gun
Part of the Historic Replica Guns catalog, the 1873 Lever Action Repeating Rifle Engraved Brass Finish Non Firing Replica Gun is a reproduction built for display, costume and film work rather than for firing. It is cast, fitted and finished by hand, the moving parts operate like the original, and the barrel is solid, so no round can be chambered at any point.
Rifles are the hardest replicas to display well because of their length. A Garand or Lee-Enfield runs close to a metre and needs either a long wall or a horizontal rack; the Kentucky flintlock is longer still. Measure the wall before ordering, and remember that a rifle hung above a door is usually too high for anyone to read the detail you paid for.
Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the Brass finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.
