Cap Gun - 1873 Peacemaker Army Revolver - Gray

About the Cap Gun - 1873 Peacemaker Army Revolver - Gray

Cap Gun - 1873 Peacemaker Army Revolver - Gray is a non-firing reproduction finished in Gray, built to the same scale as the original and supplied ready to display. The barrel is a solid casting and the chambers are blind, so nothing can be loaded or fired, while the mechanism still moves the way the original does. That is what makes it useful for a display case, a costume or a close up photograph.

Cap guns sit in a different category to blank guns. They use a paper or plastic ring of impact sensitive caps, held in a die cast frame, and they produce a small bang and a puff of smoke without any powder charge. That makes them the safest option for family events, school demonstrations and living history displays where a louder blank gun would not be appropriate.

Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the Gray finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.
