German Schmeisser MP40 Submachine Replica Gun
About the German Schmeisser MP40 Submachine Replica Gun
Part of the Historic Replica Guns catalog, the German Schmeisser MP40 Submachine Replica Gun is a reproduction built for display, costume and film work rather than for firing. It is cast, fitted and finished by hand, the moving parts operate like the original, and the barrel is solid, so no round can be chambered at any point.
The Thompson, MP40 and AK pattern replicas are the models most often requested by film and theatre companies, because they read correctly in silhouette from twenty metres away. That silhouette is also why they are the models most often refused by venues: check with the venue before you travel with a replica of this size, and keep it in a case, not on a shoulder strap in public.
Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the standard finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.
