Deluxe M1866 Old West Carbine Set - Dark Wood
About the Deluxe M1866 Old West Carbine Set - Dark Wood
The Deluxe M1866 Old West Carbine Set - Dark Wood copies the proportions of the original piece: the same length, the same grip angle and the same weight in the hand. The frame is cast in zinc aluminium, hand fitted and finished in Wood, and the grips follow the original screw pattern so they can be replaced with a period set if you want a different look.
Rifles are the hardest replicas to display well because of their length. A Garand or Lee-Enfield runs close to a metre and needs either a long wall or a horizontal rack; the Kentucky flintlock is longer still. Measure the wall before ordering, and remember that a rifle hung above a door is usually too high for anyone to read the detail you paid for.
Handle it the way you would the real thing: muzzle away from people, and in a case when you are in public. Wipe the metal with a dry cloth after handling, because fingerprints are acidic and will mark a Wood surface within weeks. Do not polish the finish, which is a thin surface treatment and comes off long before the tarnish does.
