Official Regimental Gurkha Kukri

About the Official Regimental Gurkha Kukri

Official Regimental Gurkha Kukri is a non-firing reproduction finished in standard, built to the same scale as the original and supplied ready to display. The barrel is a solid casting and the chambers are blind, so nothing can be loaded or fired, while the mechanism still moves the way the original does. That is what makes it useful for a display case, a costume or a close up photograph.

Replica swords are sold blunt by law in most markets, and that is worth remembering when a listing says battle ready. The blades here are stainless or carbon steel, unsharpened, with a rounded or chamfered edge, and they are meant for display, costume and drill. They will not cut, and they should never be struck against another blade.

Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators: the standard finish fades unevenly in sunlight and heat dries the wood. A light coat of oil on a cloth, wiped over the metal twice a year, is enough. Store it in a cabinet or a presentation box rather than a foam case, because foam holds moisture against the metal.

The original, official military issue! Hand forged from high carbon steel, each comes with regulation sheath. A must for outdoor activities that require chopping and cutting.
Used with devastating effectiveness by the famous Nepalese Gurkhas in the Siege of Delhi in 1857, in the trenches of WWI France, throughout the New Guinea jungle in WWII, and with distinction in the Falkland Islands. The blade is an impressive 1/4" thick with deep grooves and the traditional religious notch. Takes a good, sharp edge. Scale tang. Traditional, native hardwood handle. Standard metal butt plate. Genuine military issue to Gurkha Regiments in India. The only Kukri on the market that comes with a copy of the 8-page government contract, the ordinance drawing and spec sheet.
