Old West Replica Guns

Old West Replica Guns

This is the heart of the catalog. The Old West section covers the revolvers, rifles and shotguns of the 1860s to 1890s: the Colt 1851 Navy, the 1860 Army, the 1873 Peacemaker, the Schofield, the Remington 1858, the Winchester and Henry rifles, and the double barrel shotguns that hung behind every saloon bar.

Denix builds most of the range, and the antique finish is the most convincing for this period. A Peacemaker in antique grey with walnut grips looks like a gun that has been in a saddle scabbard; the same model in bright nickel looks like a prop. Both are correct, but they belong in different displays.

Choosing a Replica Revolver

Revolvers are the most collected category in this catalog, and the differences between models matter more than the pictures show. Barrel length changes the balance in the hand: a 4.75 inch Peacemaker points quickly and photographs well on a bookshelf, while a 7.5 inch cavalry length looks correct in a display case but feels muzzle heavy. Finish is the second decision, because antique grey hides handling marks while polished nickel shows every fingerprint.

Grip material is the third. Walnut and plastic grips are both fitted to the same frame, so a swap is possible on most Denix models, but check the model page before ordering spare grips. If the gun is going on a wall, order the matching presentation box or stand at the same time; shipping them together is cheaper and the felt cut-out will fit the frame you actually bought.

Common questions

Can this replica revolver be fired?
No. It is a solid, non-firing reproduction with a blocked barrel and a cylinder that cannot chamber ammunition. It is built for display, costume, film and reenactment use.

Does the cylinder actually rotate?
On most Denix single action models the cylinder indexes when the hammer is cocked, exactly like the original mechanism. The chambers are blind, so nothing can be loaded.

What is the difference between antique and nickel finish?
Antique is a mottled grey-brown patina that hides small scratches; nickel is a bright polished finish that shows handling marks but photographs sharply under display light.
