Presentation Boxes

Presentation Boxes

Presentation boxes are the classic way to store and show a single revolver. The lid lifts to reveal a felt lined cut out shaped to the frame, with space for a cleaning tool and sometimes a matching knife. The boxes here are sized for the Peacemaker, the Schofield and the 1860 and 1851 patterns.

A box does more than look good: it keeps the gun flat, stops it rolling off a shelf, and hides it from casual handling. Check the barrel length before ordering, because a box cut for a 4.75 inch revolver will not close over a 7.5 inch model. For long term storage, lift the lid once a year and let the felt air.

Display Options That Protect the Finish

The right display does two jobs: it shows the replica and it keeps hands off it. A framed set with a felt backing does both, and the glass keeps dust and fingerprints away from a nickel finish that marks easily. For a single gun, a presentation box with a cut-out is the classic choice and it stacks on a shelf without taking wall space.

Wood and felt are safe against zinc alloy and lacquered wood. Avoid foam inserts for long-term storage, and avoid anything with a rubberised coating: some soft-touch rubbers release a plasticiser over the years that eats into the finish and leaves a sticky patch.

Common questions

Do frames come with mounting hardware?
Most framed sets arrive ready to hang with a fitted backing. Wall fixings depend on your wall, so use anchors rated for the weight of the frame.

Can I display a replica outdoors?
Short term, yes, for an event. Long term, no: sun, damp and temperature swings will damage both the finish and the wood.

What is the best way to store a replica long term?
Clean and oil the metal, keep the wood dry, and store in a breathable box rather than sealed foam. Check it once a year.
